2011 McLaren MP4-12C official performance figures

McLaren Automotive has released the official performance specifications for its highly anticipated McLaren MP4-12C, and with it solidified its position among the top supercar manufacturers in the world.

McLaren claims that its MP4-12C boasts the highest performance while also being the most efficient car in its segment, powered by a bespoke twin-turbocharged 3.8 litre V8 engine which develops 447kW at 7000rpm and 600Nm.

This is mated to a seamless shift gearbox where the gears are changed using a rocker shift that moves with the steering wheel, which can be actuated either by pulling or by pushing on the rocker in true Formula 1 style.

It is capable of reaching 100km/h in less than 3.0 seconds and on to 200km/h in less than 10 seconds, knocking down the quarter mile in around 11 seconds straight from the showroom floor.

This is well ahead of its closest rivals, with the new Ferrari 458 Italia and Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera passing the 100km/h mark in 3.4 seconds – almost half a second behind the McLaren MP4-12C.

The McLaren MP4-12C – or just 12C as McLaren Automotive executive chairman, Ron Dennis, calls it – will be available to buy from dedicated McLaren dealerships in 19 countries around the world.
