2019 Mercedes-Benz CLA spied in the snow

The next-generation Mercedes-Benz CLA has been spied for the first time, putting along the snowy roads of Sweden.

While the vehicle remains heavily camouflaged, it's pretty clear the new CLA will continue to be a 'mini me' to the larger CLS.

It also wears a similar front end to the new-generation A-Class prototypes that have been spotted recently, reinforcing the small four-door coupe's family link to its hatchbacked sibling.

At the rear is a version of Mercedes-Benz's new coupe styling, with slim tail-lights and tapered bootlid. The slanted coupe roofline remains, though isn't as sharply raked as two-door models to allow for rear passenger headroom.

Integrated rhomboid tailpipes show through the rear bumper, another trademark of the company's latest models.

The interior hasn't been snapped as yet, though it's almost certain the CLA will offer the new MBUX connected infotainment system set to debut in the new A-Class.

In terms of motivation, expect the CLA to offer a similar powertrain line-up to its A-Class sibling, which should include a range of three- and four-cylinder turbocharged petrol and diesel engines. Two AMG performance variants and a plug-in hybrid version are also likely to be available down the track.

With the A-Class set to debut sometime later this year, the CLA is likely for a late-2018 or early-2019 reveal - with the market launch to occur afterwards.

Australians will likely have to wait until next year for the new four-door coupe. Stay tuned to CarAdvice for all the latest updates.
