2018 Toyota Kluger pricing and specs
AEB, adaptive cruise and lane-departure warning now standard
An upgraded 2018 Toyota Kluger range is now on sale in Australia, headlined by the inclusion of active safety technologies like autonomous emergency braking (AEB) and adaptive cruise control across the range.
Following in the footsteps of the smaller RAV4 and larger Prado, the popular Kluger is the latest model from the Japanese manufacturer to get the safety suite fitted as standard.
Previously reserved for the flagship Kluger Grande, all models now get the aforementioned AEB and adaptive cruise control, along with lane-departure warning and automatic high beam.
The upgrades raise the price of entry by $950 in the base GX variant, while the mid-range GXL also gains blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert for a $1400 premium over the outgoing model.
Otherwise the Kluger remains largely unchanged, powered by the same 218kW/350Nm 3.5-litre V6, mated as standard to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
In terms of sales, the Kluger remains number two in the large SUV segment behind its Prado stablemate, with 12,509 examples finding homes in 2017 - an increase of 5.4 per cent.
The updated Toyota Kluger range is available to order now.
