Aston Martin DB9, DBS, Rapide, Virage and Vanquish recalled for gearbox fix

Mr Bond, your car needs a software update

Aston Martin Lagonda has issued a recall notice for the DB9, DBS, Rapide, Virage and Vanquish fitted with a six-speed Touchtronic II Automatic transmission.

According to the company, a communication error between the Engine Control Module and Transmission Control Module can prevent the car from properly engaging park.

If the key is removed from the ignition while the engine is spinning at more than 450rpm, the driver doesn't select park, the driver doesn't engage the parking brake, the car is parked on a hill and the communication error occurs, there's a risk the vehicle will roll away.

A total of 391 cars are affected by the recall, sold between December 2007 and October 2014. The full VIN list is attached here.

Owners of the affected cars will be contacted by mail, and told to take their car to a dealer for a free software update.
