2018 Ford Mustang Roush 729 makes LA debut

Is your Ford Mustang GT a little boring? Maybe the Roush 729 concept can give you some inspiration.

Created as a concept for this year's SEMA show, the Roush 729 is a supercharged, wide-body version of the iconic Ford pony car, finished in eye-catching Grabber Green - used on just 95 Mustang Boss 429s were painted in 1970.

This one-of-a-kind Mustang features an array of modifications, including new Roush body add-ons in addition to a custom wide-body kit designed by Roush and Stratasys, carbon-fibre exterior components for the front splitter, rear spoiler and side skirts, along with Brembo brakes and custom Vossen RVS forged alloy wheels wrapped in Continental ExtremeContact Sport tyres.

Meanwhile, the Mustang GT's 5.0-litre 'Coyote' V8 has been treated to a Roush R2650 supercharger kit, bumping the power output to over 700 horsepower (522kW).

There's also a new (functional) hood scoop which feeds air into the supercharged engine, working in conjunction with a Roush cold air intake.

Out back, there's an active exhaust system with quad tips which allows the driver to tune the Roush 729's sound to their preference.

Inside, Roush has fitted custom leather Recaro racing seats finished by Katzkin, a Watson roll cage, and Sparco four-point racing harnesses - though unfortunately there are no images of the cabin.

While built as a concept study, various components used on the Roush 729 will be available to Mustang owners.
