2018 Volkswagen Golf, Passat, Arteon recalled

64 cars affected by wheel-bearing fault

Volkswagen Australia has issued a recall notice for a handful of Passats, one Golf and one Arteon, to correct an issue with the rear-wheel bearing housing.

According to the company, the rear-wheel bearing housing on a total of 64 vehicles may have been manufactured with insufficient case hardening.

In worst-case scenarios, the wheel-bearing might fracture, which may significantly impact the "road-holding of the vehicle" and pose a greater accident risk.

A list of affected vehicles can be found here. Owners of the cars will be contacted by mail, and instructed to book the car into their nearest dealer for a fix.

Anyone concerned about their car can also call 1800 607 822 for more information.
