2019 Rolls-Royce Cullinan drops camo

The 2019 Rolls-Royce Cullinan has been spied again this week, wearing a little less disguise and giving us a better look at the upcoming uber-luxe crossover.

While the British marque refuses to associate the Cullinan with a pedestrian term like 'SUV', instead referring to it as a High-Sided Vehicle (HSV), the upcoming crossover looks very much like a member of the Rolls-Royce family.

Up front is the company's signature 'Pantheon' grille, while the small rectangular LED tail-lights bear a strong resemblance to the wider range.

Compared to previous prototypes that have been spied in recent months, this version of the Cullinan is wearing the production front bumper, and also isn't wearing fake panels at the rear - meaning we can see those production-spec tail-lights through the swirly black-and-white disguise.

It essentially looks like a high-riding, wagon-bodied version of the new-generation Phantom, with which it shares a new aluminium spaceframe architecture.

Last month we published images of the Cullinan's camouflaged interior, which has pretty much been lifted out of the Phantom, though the prototype was fitted with a BMW steering wheel.

Headline interior features include digital instruments and a large central infotainment display already seen in the new-generation Phantom. We are still yet to see the second row of seats, though we'd expect it to be commodious despite the shorter body.

Power is expected to come from a twin-turbo V12 like the wider Rolls-Royce range, but an all-electric drivetrain is likely to follow soon after the Cullinan's initial launch.

The new 'HSV' - we're not sure what Holden Special Vehicles thinks of that label - has been confirmed for a 2019 launch, though we reckon the final design will make its debut late in 2018.
