2018 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 spied

The next-generation Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 has been spied undergoing testing in Europe.

The most hardcore model in the 718 range looks set to have styling to match. There's an aggressive front bumper design with large air intakes and a prominent front spoiler that juts out as far as Jay Leno's chin.

At the rear, there's an unmissable diffuser, a pair of exhaust tips straddling the centre line of the vehicle, and a free-standing wing large enough to double as an office desk.

The GT4 rides on large alloy wheels allied to wide and sticky rubber, especially at the rear. Stopping power comes from appropriately big disc brakes fitted with bright yellow callipers.

Although we don't know for sure, it's possible the GT4 will still be powered by a naturally aspirated six-cylinder boxer engine. The previous generation had a 283kW/420Nm 3.8-litre engine, and was capable of reeling off the 0-100km/h standard in 4.4 seconds.

Perhaps, and we're speculating here, the new GT4 might receive a less powerful version of 4.0-litre six-cylinder engine from the 911 GT3. In the GT3, the naturally aspirated 4.0-litre motor develops 368kW of power and 460Nm of torque.

Given how little camouflage this prototype is wearing, we may not have to wait too many months to find out.
