2018 Nissan GT-R Pure announced for the US, not for Oz – UPDATE

Apple CarPlay added, more power for Godzilla

Update: Nissan Australia has confirmed that there are no plans to introduce the GT-R Pure locally.

Nissan's US arm has announced pricing and details of its 2018 GT-R range, including a new entry-level variant dubbed the GT-R Pure.

Kicking off at US$99,990 ($130,705), the GT-R Pure is a pared-back variant in a similar vein to the recently-detailed Volkswagen Golf GTI Original and R Grid models, doing without select luxury and convenience items while keeping the same performance levels.

Compared to the Premium variant, which kicks off at US$110,490 ($144,431), the Pure misses out on the 11-speaker Bose audio system, active noise cancellation, active sound enhancement system and the titanium exhaust.

Additionally, the entire range now gets Apple CarPlay in the US as part of the 2018 upgrade, along with a slight power bump - bringing the core range to 565hp (421kW), while the the GT-R Nismo continues with 600hp (447kW). Other changes include a new 'Kuro Night' colour for the Premium Interior Package.

Australia

The GT-R range currently kicks off at $189,000 before on-road costs for the Premium in Australia, climbing to $299,000 plus ORCs for the flagship GT-R Nismo.
