2014-15 Peugeot 4008 recalled for stalling fix

Peugeot has issued a recall notice for model-year 2014-15 4008 SUVs over concerns of a faulty power relay.

The company says the power relay in 939 units may overheat, resulting in a failure. If the relay fails, it could cause the engine to stall while driving. It may also stop the car restarting, or activate a “failsafe” mode which results in a “loss of engine power”.

Each of these scenarios pose a hazard to the driver and other road users, increasing the likelihood of an accident.

Affected vehicles were built between 30 November 2014 and 30 December 2015. A list of VIN numbers is available here.

The news comes just days after Mitsubishi recalled almost 50,000 vehicles – including the related ASX – for a similar issue.

Owners of the affected 4008 crossovers will be contacted by PSA Peugeot Citroen Australia when parts become available, and will be advised to take their car to their local dealer for a replacement power relay.
