Bufori Geneva almost Australian global debut

The Geneva motor show has played host to the global debut of a new model from former Australian luxury car builder, Bufori.

Developed under the code name "Bufori MKVI", the new car was presented with its official title - the Bufori Geneva - named after the city it was launced in.

Brothers Anthony, George and Gerry Khouri, who together founded the company, made the long trek all the way to Geneva with their latest model to stand up and be noticed on the world stage.

“We have decided to name this new Bufori model after the city it was launched in, as this occasion marks an important milestone in our company history. We also wanted to pay tribute to the 80th edition of this fantastic motor show and the beautiful city of Geneva," says Chairman and Co-Founder, Anthony Khouri.

Despite having moved its operations to Malaysia, the Bufori Geneva remains as Australia's own take on the ultra-luxury automobile, combining classic design elements with modern technology such as integrated bi-xenon headlamps and LED rear lights.

It is powered by a 6.1-litre hemi V8 engine which produces peak power of 320kW and 586Nm, with power sent to the rear wheels via an adaptive automatic transmission and limited slip differential.

Gerry Khouri, Managing Director and Co-Founder of BUFORI said “This new model marks an important milestone in the company’s history. This new model, introduces the first of a new generation of BUFORI vehicles. We have been developing this new model for close to 2 years and are proud of our achievements.”

Bufori estimates that its Geneva model will accelerate from zero to 100km/h in less than six seconds and on to a top speed of more than 260km/h.

An optional supercharger package is also available which boosts peak power to more than 417kW and 690Nm.

Inside, the Bufori Geneva has been built to be equally luxurious as any Rolls-Royce or Bentley, even offering a fine tea set with instant boiling water and sink, an Espresso coffee maker or even an ice box.

A state-of-the-art and comprehensive multimedia system provides high-definition surround sound and a choice of up to three touch screen monitors scattered throughtout the cabin.

Its bespoke, semi-monocoque body has been made from a unique hybrid carbon fibre and kevlar material infused with vinylester resin, which offers superior strength while still being lightweight.

The Bufori Geneva is not short on technology either, featuring ABS, EBD, Brake Assist, Traction Control, Steering Angle Control and Adaptive Cruise Control.

Each example of the Bufori Geneva is individually hand-crafted for each owner, taking more than 6,000 hours to complete at the manufacturing facility in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Production will start in June 2010, offered to customers in key markets such as Europe, Asia, Middle East and eventually North America.
