More power, lower price for GT range

Local pricing and specifications for the upgraded Alpina B3 S and B4 S BiTurbo range have been detailed this week, with the powered-up range bringing significant price cuts.

Headlining the updates is a revised engine, with the twin-turbo 3.0-litre straight six fitted to all models now developing 324kW (up from 301kW) thanks to new turbochargers and an updated cooling system.

Torque has also risen from 600Nm to 660Nm, though the claimed 0-100km/h times for the B3 S BiTurbo and B4 S BiTurbo remain the same at 4.3 seconds (sedan) and 4.2 seconds (coupe) respectively.

Additionally, B4 S models get some minor cosmetic changes in line with the LCI update rolled out across the BMW 4 Series range - the B4's donor vehicle - earlier this year, including new LED head- and tail-lights, along with revised bumper treatments.

Prices are down across the line-up, too, with the B3 S BiTurbo sedan kicking off at $142,900 plus on-road costs (down from $155,900), while the B4 S BiTurbo coupe will start at $149,900 plus ORCs (down from $160,900).

Meanwhile, the B3 S BiTurbo wagon kicks off at $149,900 plus on-roads (was $160,900), and the B4 S BiTurbo convertible comes in at $159,900 plus ORCs (was $170,900).

Standard equipment is largely the same for the updated range, including 20-inch Alpina Classic alloy wheels, stainless steel exhaust system with quad-tipped tailpipes, rear spoiler, Merino leather trim, electrically-adjustable sports seats, LED headlights, along with front and rear parking sensors.

Options include more upmarket 'Lavalina' leather for the interior ($7646-$13,710), adaptive cruise control ($1042), heated steering wheel ($250), and a range of metallic paints ($1679-$8106).
