2018 Audi A7 design revealed by leaked scale model

The design of the new Audi A7 has been largely revealed via leaked photos of miniature versions of the vehicle.

These photos were originally posted online by AutoWeek.nl, and show the front and sides of the second-generation Audi A7 Sportback.

As we've seen in earlier spy photos, the A7 and S7 will have a design that mixes together cues from the first-generation car and the Prologue series of concept cars.

Up front, the new A7 has a wider single-frame grille and a thin headlamp housing backed by an array of LEDs. Along the sides there's seemingly more glass than before.

Although there's no photo from behind, the tail of the new car is swoopier than the original's. Spy photography has shown the new A7 will have a full width light bar across the back.

All up, the new A7 looks to be a sportier take on the design language established with the A8 sedan.

Under the skin, the A7 will sit on a version of the MLB Evo platform, which underpins the Audi A8 and Q7, as well as the Porsche Cayenne and Bentley Bentayga.

Power for the new A7 range will likely include turbocharged V6 and V8 petrol and diesel engines. A plug-in hybrid option should become available further down the track.

With a body structure set to feature a mix of high-strength steel and aluminium, the new A7 should be lighter, more efficient and faster than today's car.
