2010 Mazda2 hatch & sedan face-lift heads for Australia

The new Mazda2 hatch and sedan will land in Australian showrooms from May highlighting a revised look and increased equipment levels.

Since its launch in 2007, over 35,000 examples of the Mazda2 have been sold in Australia, making it one of the best selling light cars on the market.

Joining three- and five-door hatch models this year is the Mazda2 sedan, a car Mazda hopes will attract a whole new range of buyers.

"Having listened to customer feedback and studied the light segment very closely, we believe that the new Mazda2 sedan offers the potential to engage with a whole new set of customers," said Mazda Australia marketing manager, Mr Alastair Doak.

The new Mazda2 sedan offers an impressive list of features that includes inch alloy wheels, air-conditioning, power windows and power mirrors - not to mention a 450-litre boot.

Safety comes courtesy of front, side and curtain airbags, ABS brakes and Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD).

Under the bonnet, the Mazda2 range will continue to be powered by a 1.5-litre 76kW petrol engine which will be offered with a choice of manual and automatic transmissions. Fuel economy figures are as low as 6.4L/100km.
