Porsche shares fan favourites in new ‘Top 5’ video

Porsche has asked fans which classic models they would like to see driven, and they have delivered in the latest installment of its 'Top 5' video series.

The first car featured is a white 1967 911 R, from Belgian Porsche collector, Johan-Frank Dirickx. It's clear this guy is a true Porsche enthusiast, as he owns all of the 19 R models ever produced, including the four prototypes. This means Porsche itself doesn't even own one, despite the fact that the company tends to preserve every model it can.

This matching-numbers model is completely original with only 34,000 kilometres on the odometer. It weighs just 800 kilograms, 200kg less than the standard 911, thanks to fibreglass panels and Plexiglas windows.

Other noticeable changes were the plastic door handles, tail-lights and rear indicators.

You can only imagine how quick and nimble the car would be with its 156kW 2.0-litre engine.

Next stop was the Hockenheimring circuit in Germany, to visit the most powerful Porsche ever produced - the 917/30 Spyder (above). The 1973 streamlined race car broke records at Le Mans that year by driving 5335km. It also won 14 of its 21 races.

With 820kW of power produced from the V12 engine, Porsche once again listened to its fans for this video, and turned the music off. The engine note is simply incredible.

Lastly, a 930 Turbo lands at a wind tunnel in Weissach, Germany. With a wider body shell, front and rear spoilers, it is one mean sports car.

Just 2850 units were produced of the original Turbo up until 1977, which makes it quite a collector's item.

In the video, Porsche shows you can fit 40 beer bottles on the massive whale tail spoiler. Nifty.

In the past, we have been entertained by these Top 5 episodes, including Porsche's best sounds, best concepts, and most thrilling, but this latest instalment is definitely one of the finest.
