2013-16 Mercedes-Benz G-Class recalled for steering fix
Mercedes-Benz has issued a recall for approximately 170 examples its G-Class off-roader sold between April 2013 and April 2016 over concerns a faulty steering joint could cause loss of steering control.
The German manufacturer reports that affected models may be equipped with bolts securing the lower steering joint that may not have been torqued correctly.
Over time the condition could result in wear to the steering joint, causing a reduction of steering control.
In a worst case scenario, the joint could completely fail and steering control would be lost.
Affected G-Class vehicles were sold from 1 April 2013 through 30 April 2016.
Owners of the recalled units will be contacted via mail by Mercedes-Benz Australia, and will be requested to contact their local dealer to arrange the inspection and repair of their vehicle.
