Clarkson and May arrive in Sydney for Top Gear Live
Two thirds of the Top Gear team arrived in Sydney yesterday as they gear up for the Australian leg of the Top Gear Live tour.
Jeremy Clarkson and James May will be joined on stage by supercar driver Greg Murphy who will also host the show, alongside an entourage of more than 100 cars, supercars and modified vehicles, 600 tyres, plus the world’s first indoor loop the loop.
Despite the jet lag and extreme temperature fluctuation (coming from minus six degrees with heavy snowfall in the UK) Clarkson and May posed politely for the awaiting media beside a sparkling white Lotus Evora and Lamborghini Murcielago.
For someone who seemingly enjoys his grumpy old man stereotype, Clarkson was certainly cool, calm and collected as the paparazzi swooped in to get the best shot - while I had to throw around a few elbows just to get a look in.
Another member of the Top Gear cast - aside from Hammond - remained elusive today with The Stig also making an appearance during the show this year as he attempts the Top Gear Live world-first ever indoor loop the loop in a modified buggy.
Top Gear Live star and co-host Jeremy Clarkson said: “We’ve turned your favourite motoring television show into the most spectacular motoring theatre show in the universe. We’ll be taking all the best bits of Top Gear, and ambitiously attempting them live in our action arena.
Australian celebrities will also be on hand, competing in a Reliant Robin race on stage during some of the live shows.
Some tickets are still available for the Sunday shows, with prices starting from $69 and include entry to the Top Gear Live Festival.
