2018 Mercedes-Benz C-Class facelift spied inside and out

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan facelift has been spied undergoing testing in southern Europe.

Like the recent S-Class update, the C-Class facelift will feature revised front and rear bumpers, new headlight internals and tail-lamp graphics, and a refreshed interior.

As with its much bigger brother, the C-Class looks as though it will gain a sportier look with more aggressive sculpting for the front and rear fascias, and enlarged openings for the air intakes, both real and fake.

An enhanced feature list is almost a certainty, with some of the S-Class' technology certain to filter down. This could include automated lane charging, remote parking, and improved road scanning for better cruise control operation and on-the-fly suspension tuning.

Our peek at the interior shows a trackpad in the centre console for the Comand infotainment system.

There are shrouds for the steering wheel, instrument cluster and infotainment screen, suggesting new designs for the former, and a larger monitor for the latter.

Expect to find new or updated engines under the C-Class' bonnet, with the latest 2.0-litre turbo-diesel likely to usher today's 2.1-litre mill out the door.

It's possible the company's new 300kW/500Nm 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder petrol engine with an electric compressor will power an AMG variant of the revised C-Class, although this engine may not be available at the car's launch.

Given the level disguise on this prototype, the facelifted C-Class could make its debut later this year, but probably won't go on sale locally until 2018.
