After Volkswagen revealed the update to its popular Golf hatchback would be kicking off from $23,990 drive-away, it appears French manufacturer Renault has followed suit, with the entry-level Megane Life manual hatchback priced from $22,990 drive-away - just $500 more than the manufacturer's list price.
Meanwhile, the new sedan starts at $29,990 drive-away in Zen specification, while the wagon kicks off at $30,490 in Zen trim.
The sporty-styled GT-Line hatch is priced at $34,990 drive-away, which rises to $36,490 if you want the more practical wagon body.
Finally, the flagship Megane GT is $40,990 drive-away in hatchback form or $42,490 in wagon guise.
"This new drive-away pricing combined with Renault’s excellent reassurance package of a five year, unlimited kilometre warranty and our capped-price servicing programme demonstrates our commitment to ensuring the very best value for money for our customers," said Justin Hocevar, managing director for Renault Australia.
"The high levels of specification that include a number of active safety features, ensure the Megane range is very well equipped to take the sales fight directly to its European rivals in the small segment."
Reanult's drive-away pricing for the Megane range is in effect now.
