Jaguar XE SV Project 8 revealed ahead of Goodwood debut, not for Oz

441kW AWD sedan is the most powerful Jaguar ever

The Jaguar XE SV Project 8 has been officially revealed this week ahead of its public debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Limited to just 300 left-hand drive examples globally, the XE SV Project 8 is the most powerful Jaguar road car in history, generating a monster 441kW of power (600PS) at 6500rpm and 700Nm of torque between 3500 and 5000rpm from its 5.0-litre supercharged V8.

Helping the Project 8 get all that grunt to the tarmac is a recalibrated version of Jaguar's eight-speed Quickshift automatic transmission and all-wheel drive system, capable of selecting gears in 200 milliseconds and shifting non-sequentially (e.g. from 8 to 2).

The special XE is capable of accelerating from 0-60mph in just 3.3 seconds, 0-100km/h in 3.7 seconds, on its way to a top speed of 322km/h (200mph) - making it faster than the Alfa Romeo Giulia QV, BMW M3 and Mercedes-AMG C63 S.

Jaguar's Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) have fitted a host of enhancements inside and out to maximise the Project 8's performance potential, including lightweight aluminium and carbon-fibre body panels, manually-adjustable ride height, new carbon ceramic brakes - including the industry-first use of Formula One-style silicon nitride ceramic wheel bearings on a road car - an additional 'Track' driving mode, and carbon-fibre aero bits including the front splitter, side skirts, rear diffuser, and a manually-adjustable rear wing.

Filling the arches are 20-inch forged alloy wheels, wrapped in 265/35 R20 front and 305/30 R20 rear Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 rubber.

Other highlights include a unique titanium active exhaust system with 89mm quad tailpipes, an electronic active rear differential, gloss carbon-fibre interior trims, Alcantara highlights on the dash, door and steering wheel, aluminium gear shift paddles, a 12.3-inch TFT digital instrument display, Jaguar's 10.2-inch Touch Pro central infotainment system, a 380W Meridian audio system and magnesium-framed front performance seats trimmed in Jet leather and suede cloth.

The 'standard' car is offered with four seats, while the optional 'Track Pack' saves 12.2 kilograms by removing the rear seats, and replacing the front pews with carbon-fibre racing buckets trimmed in the same Jet leather and suede cloth, with four-point harnesses and a fire extinguisher system.

Other additions included with the Track Pack include a Project 8-branded carpeted panel and Harness Retention Hoop, a gloss black-painted roof and longitudinal Project 8 twin-stripe decals.

Priced from 149,995 pounds ($252,786) in the UK, the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 is available to order now, and will take part in the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend.

Australia

Being left-hook only, the Project 8 is only available in select countries including Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Thailand, the UK and USA. However, Canada and US customer are unable to purchase the Track Pack version.
