2018 BMW X2 front bumper design spied

The BMW X2 has been spied again, this time on the back of a transport truck.

This latest prototype features less camouflage tape on its front fascia, revealing an aggressive design for the crossover's lower air intakes.

Unfortunately the rest of the vehicle wears the same level of disguise as the prototype seen at the end of 2016 during cold weather testing in Sweden.

With styling heavily influenced by the 2016 X2 Concept, the production X2 will have a sportier looking body mounted atop the X1's UKL front- and all-wheel drive underpinnings, which are shared with the 2 Series Active Tourer and Mini lineup.

Motivation will come from a selection of turbocharged three- and four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines familiar from other models in the BMW and Mini ranges.

Australia

The BMW X2 has been confirmed for Australia, with the new crossover likely to land in local showrooms during the first half of 2018.

When it goes on sale, the X2 should give the company's expanding SUV range another sales boost. In 2016, X models accounted for 51.4 per cent of all local BMW sales with the X1's 4090 sales not far behind the larger and considerably more expensive X5's 4181.
