World’s fastest go-kart reaches 0-60mph in 1.5 seconds

The world's fastest go-kart, the C5 Blast Go-Kart Ultimate, is claiming a 0-60mph (97km/h) time of just 1.5-seconds, making it nearly twice as fast as the most potent Tesla Model S.

It's produced by Canadian company, Daymak - known for making ATVs, scooters and electric bikes - and tested in Toronto.

The go-kart is powered by a 10kW electric motor and is supplied by a 2,400-Wh lithium-ion battery. Giving it 60kg of forwarding thrust, are four electrically-ducted fan motors, which get the 200kg go-kart moving along quickly (to say the least).

"Speed will not be an issue, and we think we can eventually go under one-second 0-to-60mph, making it faster than any vehicle in existence," said Aldo Baiocchi, President of Daymak.

There are two models available, one being the Standard that reaches 60mph in a much 'slower' 3.9 seconds, and is priced at US$9999 ($13,463). The second is the Ultimate model (the one we all want), priced at an eye-watering US$59,999 ($80,788).

Each go-kart is custom built and tested, with delivery taking 60 days after purchase.
