Jaguar XE SV Project 8 teased ahead of June 28 reveal – UPDATE

Jaguar has teased its upcoming limited-run XE SV Project 8 sports sedan in a quick online video, ahead of the new model's reveal on June 28.

Based on the XE sedan, the SV Project 8 follows the F-Type Project 7 from 2014, and will become the most powerful road-legal Jaguar ever, thanks to its 441kW 5.0-litre supercharged V8.

Like Project 7, Project 8 will be a limited-run collector's edition - with production capped at 300 units globally - set to be hand-made at the company's Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) technical centre in Coventry.

In the above video, the XE SV Project 8 can be seen, albeit briefly, tackling the famous Nurburgring race track in Germany, hinting that the British company could be attempting to steal the four-door production car lap record set by the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio (7 minutes 32 seconds).

Full details of the new Jaguar XE SV Project 8 will be revealed on June 28 with the vehicle, ahead of its "dynamic debut" at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, which commences on June 30.

Australia

While the XE SV Project 8 will be available globally, the company's local arm has confirmed the super sedans will only be available in left-hand drive.

So, while it can be ordered, it's not going to be seen on Australian public roads anytime soon. #SadFace
