Bentley Bentayga gets new in-car Falconry kit, because of course it does

Not one for mainstream sports like football and cricket, the Bentley Bentayga has added yet another eccentric accessory pack for an upper-class pastime with the Bentayga Falconry by Mulliner.

Joining the fly fishing set released last July, the falconry kit is hand-crafted by Bentley's bespoke coachbuilding division Mulliner, and includes stacks of beautifully finished features, with most placed in the boot.

A few-thousand years ago, Saker Falcons were used for hunting, but it was then turned into a sport for the upper-class kind.

Trimmed in natural-cork-fabric, is a master flight station with a veneered drawer that features the crest of a Saker Falcon, and has ample room for all your falconry equipment.

Binoculars, a bird-tracking GPS, gauntlets and leather bird hoods can be purchased as options.

Placed beside the master flight station is the refreshment case. After a long day of falconry, three metal flasks, cups, a blanket and face cloths will be a welcome addition.

Inside a pocket built into the side of the boot is a case trimmed in natural-cork-fabric too, holding two separate perches, with another perch tethered to the front centre armrest - so your Falcon is always with you.

A highlight of the kit is an exquisite piece of artwork that features a soaring Falcon over a desert,  put together using 430 individual pieces of wood from around-the-world. It takes crafters nine days to build.

Geoff Dowding, Director of Mulliner, said: “The Bentayga Falconry showcases what’s possible with our skilled craftspeople. They can devise elegant and exquisitely executed bespoke solutions to compliment any lifestyle or hobby.

Falconry is regarded as the sport of kings in the Middle East, so it was vital that the kit we created was as luxurious as it was practical and durable to appeal to our valued customers there and around the world.”

Saker Falcons are one of the most valuable birds in the world, with some fetching $1 million, making it three-quarters more expensive than it is to buy a Bentayga. (That said, some historic Ford Falcons are known to have come close to a mil at auction... but I digress.)

When Bentley's SUV was released last year it offered the world's most expensive car option, a $300,000 Breitling Mulliner Tourbillon watch that was placed in the centre console.

Pricing for the Bentley Bentayga Falconry by Mulliner is AUD $157,316.09.
