Elextra supercar revealed, EV claims 2.3-second sprint to 100

Swiss electric start-up Elextra has revealed the first images of its upcoming electric supercar, and it's set to launch in Europe around 2019.

Looking like a more accommodating, long-lost, electric twin to the Lamborghini Aventador, the Elextra features four doors, four seats, and a carbon-fibre tub construction.

Designed to compete with the likes of the Porsche Mission E and Nio EP9, the Elextra is powered by two electric motors, producing a claimed combined power output of 680hp, or 507kW.

That's not the most impressive figure, though. Elextra super-EV is capable of sprinting from 0-100km/h in just 2.3 seconds - which if achieved, will make it the quickest-accelerating car in the world - on its way to a limited top speed of 250km/h.

Additionally, the Elextra claims a driving range of 600km on electric power, though the capacity of the battery is still to be confirmed.

The Elextra will was designed in Switzerland, and will be hand-built in Stuttgart, Germany, in an initial run of 100 units.

Speaking with the UK's Autocar, Robert Palm, CEO of Classic Factory design house and the man behind the Elextra's swoopy styling, said the super-EV will be priced between "400,000 to 500,000 euros", or around $598,194 to $747,742.

The Elextra project involves several companies that are all contributing their respective expertise, and the collaboration has received enough funding to enter the second phase - moving the Elextra from the drawing board into the proper development process.

"We aim to show a prototype model next Spring," Palm told Autocar.
