Antonio Banderas and Alec Baldwin to star in Lamborghini biopic

Antonio Banderas will star as Ferruccio Lamborghini in a new biographical movie about the man behind both the tractor and supercar brands.

The new movie is currently being developed under the working title Lamborghini – The Legend, and was first talked about in late 2015.

According to Variety, Banderas will star alongside Alec Baldwin, who will play Enzo Ferrari.

The movie about Lamborghini's life is based on the biography Ferruccio Lamborghini: La storia ufficiale (Ferruccio Lamborghini: The official story) written by Tonino Lamborghini, Ferruccio's son.

Lamborghini – The Legend will cover Lamborghini's establishment of his tractor company in the aftermath of World War II, and the founding of his eponymous sports car marque in 1963.

After Lamborghini sold his remaining shares in the car company in 1974, it went through a number of owners, including Chrysler and Indonesian interests related to former president Suharto, before ending up in the lap of Audi.

Directing the movie will be Michael Radford, who specialises in book adaptations and directed the BAFTA award winning Il Postino (The Postman), amongst others. In charge of the script will be Bobby Moresco, the man who penned Crash and Million Dollar Baby.

Filming will apparently take place in Italy, and other locations. No target release date has yet been announced for the movie.
