2017 Infiniti Q60 Red Sport on sale in Australia

Twin-turbo halo model kicks off at $88,900

The 2017 Infiniti Q60 Red Sport has arrived in Australia, with the flagship Japanese coupe kicking off at $88,900 before on-road costs.

Packing twin-turbo power, the Q60 Red Sport will compete with German warm-performance models like the Audi S5 ($105,800) and Mercedes-AMG C43 coupe ($105,615) - though significantly undercutting its rivals on price while offering comparable performance.

Under the bonnet is a 298kW/475Nm 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 - maximum torque coming between 1600 and 5200rpm - matched to a seven-speed automatic transmission with steering-mounted paddle shifters, sending drive to the rear wheels.

Standard equipment includes autonomous emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian protection, surround camera system with moving object detection, 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 245/40 R19 94W run-flat tyres, 355mm front and 350 rear brakes with red calipers, a 13-speaker Bose Performance Series audio system with 10-inch woofers - the world-first implementation for a production vehicle - nappa leather upholstery (black, white or red), real carbon-fibre trim (black/purple or white/silver depending on interior colour), unique dual exhaust system.

Other features include the company's adjustable Dynamic Digital Suspension, Direct Adaptive Steering (steer-by-wire) system with customisable ratio, power sunroof, eight-way adjustable heated front seats, active noise cancellation, power-adjustable steering wheel, Infiniti's InTouch dual-screen infotainment system with 8.0-inch upper and 7.0-inch lower touchscreen displays, satellite navigation with SUNA live traffic updates, DAB digital radio, keyless entry with push-button start, automatic LED headlights with LED daytime-running lights, LED fog-lights and heated mirrors.

In addition to the aforementioned driver assistance systems, the Q60 is also equipped with active lane control and blind spot monitoring and intervention, along with six airbags, pop-up bonnet and two Isofix child seat mounts.

The Q60 Red Sport is covered by Infiniti's four year, 100,000km warranty. Scheduled maintenance is required every 12 months or 15,000km, with the first three visits costing $331, $570 and $331 respectively - totalling $1232.

Infiniti is also providing premium roadside assistance for the vehicle's warranty period, which offers the service for the owner's non-Infiniti cars in the household as well.

Also launching this week is the Q60 Sport Premium, which offers similar levels of specification to the Red Sport but with the Mercedes-Benz-sourced 155kW/350Nm 2.0-litre turbocharged four under the bonnet - starting at $70,900 before on-road costs.

With the arrival of both the Q60 Red Sport and Sport Premium grades, the premium Japanese coupe now features a four-strong line-up, ranging from $62,900 plus on-roads to $88,900 before ORCs.
