2018 Mitsubishi ASX update revealed in the USA

An updated version of the Mitsubishi ASX with lightly revised styling was unveiled overnight in the USA.

Known there as the Outlander Sport, the Stateside version of the diminutive crossover has received new front and rear bumpers.

The update doesn't banish Mitsubishi's Dynamic Shield grille, instead there are subtle revisions, including a chrome bar bisecting the upper portion of grille and new vertically stacked LED driving lights in the lower section.

At the rear, the new bumper features a prominent silver-coloured bash plate-style element, above which is a full width grey plastic section capped off with C-shaped reflectors on either side.

On the inside, the crossover has gained a new squarer design for the centre tunnel console, as well as a new 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system that includes Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone mirroring support.

In addition to the minor cosmetic changes, the Outlander Sport is now available with extra safety features, including lane departure warning, forward collision mitigation, and automatic high beam activation.

Mitsubishi also says that it has made alterations to reduce the car's noise, vibration and harshness.

Australia

Full details about the updated Outlander Sport will be revealed at the New York motor show next week.

We're waiting to hear back from Mitsubishi Motors Australia about when, or if, the updated Outlander Sport/ASX will arrive in Australian showrooms.
