2018 Volkswagen Touareg caught undisguised
The next-generation Volkswagen Touareg has been spied almost completely without disguise, with only its badge and trim highlights obscured.
The big SUV was snapped by a reader of South Africa's Car magazine at O. R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg. The new Touareg was spotted alongside an undisguised version of the next-generation Polo hatch, possibly the same car photographed last week.
The new Touareg was last spied in February with disguise tape at the front and back. This latest prototype allows us to clearly see the design of the Touareg's front-end.
Like the recently unveiled Arteon, the third-generation Touareg features a grille that blends into multi-part headlights. Unlike the Arteon, the new Touareg has an egg crate-style grille with thick chrome accents along its top and bottom.
The rest of the new Touareg seems be very similar to the T-Prime GTE concept that made its debut at last year's Beijing motor show.
Under the skin, it's believed that the new Touareg will use a version of the MLB platform for front- and all-wheel-drive cars with longitudinal engines. As such, it will be closely related to the Audi Q7 and Bentley Bentayga, as well as the next-generation Porsche Cayenne.

It's expected that the new Touareg will make its debut later this year, but probably won't go on sale in Australia until the early part of 2018.
