With the S90 already on sale here, the A5 and Ioniq have been awarded the top safety scores ahead of their launches Down Under, while the smaller Hyundai i20 - which is sold in New Zealand but not Australia - fell short of the full five stars, achieving only four.
The A5, Ioniq and S90 were all praised for including autonomous emergency braking (AEB) systems as standard equipment, particularly the Audi, which also gets pedestrian protection.
Meanwhile, the i20 struggled in the areas of child occupant protection and safety assist, while advanced driver assistance systems like AEB, adaptive cruise control and blind spot monitoring aren't available on any variant.
"A range of brands and vehicle categories are covered with these ratings and the majority performed very well across all areas of our assessment," said James Goodwin, ANCAP's CEO.
However, Goodwin was quick to point out the discrepancies in safety equipment between models delivered locally and their counterparts in Europe, even between Australia and New Zealand.
"The safety specification of S90 models sold locally does however differ to those sold in Europe with no driver knee airbag," he said.
"Specification of the A5 also differs between Australia and New Zealand with adaptive cruise control and lane support systems provided as standard for New Zealand consumers yet optional for Australians."
"It is disappointing we continue to see this happen across brands," Goodwin added.
The five-star safety ratings for the A5, Ioniq and S90 apply from March 2017, February 2017 and October 2016 respectively, while the i20's four-star score applies from December 2016 onwards and also includes the SUV-styled i20 Cross variant.
