2017 Volvo S90, V90 Cross Country and XC90 recalled for airbag fix

Swedish manufacturer Volvo has issued a recall for 524 vehicles across its S90, V90 Cross Country and XC90 model lines over concerns the curtain airbags may not deploy properly in the event of an accident.

Due to a manufacturing fault, bolts holding the curtain airbag in place could have the bolt head detach, meaning the inflator may not be correctly secured.

If the condition occurs, Volvo says the functionality of the inflatable curtain could be decreased, which could increase the risk of injury in a crash.

The VIN ranges for the affected model lines are as follows:

S90 - 011536 to 017772
V90 Cross Country - 000098 to 005222
XC90 - 150614 to 175024

Interestingly, the V90 Cross Country (below) is included in the recall despite the fact it isn't officially on sale in Australia yet, while the regular V90 appears to be unaffected by the notice. V90 CC models recalled will likely be dealer stock and vehicles still in holding or transport.

Known owners of the recalled models will be contacted via mail, and are encouraged to contact their local Volvo dealer to have the curtain airbag bolts replaced free of charge.
