Roadshow: Upcoming car events across Australia, March to June
Amateur motorsport, track days, poker runs, swap meets, cruises, classic and vintage festivals, motor shows, car club meetings... there are literally thousands of car events held across Australia every year.
Between now and the end of June there are a slew of options with something for everyone - even an 'anything goes' bike race that looks like an epic amount of fun.
If we had the freedom to flit from state to state over the next few months checking out some of the biggest and quirkiest ones, here's what our itinerary would look like.

We'd kick it all off with a trip to our Nation's capital for Auto Italia Canberra 2017. This 'festino' will sprawl across the east, west and north lawns of Old Parliament House on Sunday April 2, 2017.
This event promises to be a feast full of Italian flavour with brands like Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, Fiat, Lancia, Lamborghini, Maserati and more on show.
Owners of Italian cars, bikes and scooters are welcome to head along and show off their pride and joy. Register online or turn up and pay the registration fee at the gate, entry is free for spectators.

A new addition to the scene this year, the Teakle Auto Sprint Port Lincoln will light up the streets of this postcard-perfect South Australian town.
On Saturday and Sunday, April 15-16, the tarmac sprint race is hosted by the EP Autosports Club and has attracted a huge number of entries already including a GTHO from the 71 Bathurst 500, as well as a V8 Supercar and V8 racing ute.
With tight corners and quick straights, this will be an exciting event for spectators too. Not to mention the fact that Port Lincoln is known for its fresh and fabulous seafood - what more could you want?

Ok, so it's not a car event, specifically, but this couldn't be left off the list.
Dust Hustle 4 is on at Biddaddaba in Queensland on Saturday April 22. The brilliance of this event is that anyone can enter and ride any kind of bike wearing almost anything they like.
Organised by Ellaspede, Dust Hustle is now in its fourth year and is pitched as being all about 'getting an inappropriate, old or otherwise motorcycle and having the best damn time on it sleddin’ and shreddin'.
Grass and dirt tracks, camping and a trackside bar and after-party... I don't even have a bike, but I want to sign up!

From Queensland, we'd then head to the far south and hit Targa Tasmania 2017. It's on from April 24-19 and is an exciting way to get your tarmac rally fix.
This annual event is the biggest and longest race of its kind in the world, attracting some of the best cars and drivers from across the globe.
Known for its scenic beauty, the course winds its way over mountains and includes some very challenging roads.

Head to the Crowdy Head beach on the mid-north coast in New South Wales on Saturday May 6 for The Rattletrap. Hosted by Drag-ens Hot Rod Club, classic hot rods, vintage race cars and bikes will race along the beach.
The day will include bracket sprints, grudge matches and an exhibition class, and it all gets underway from 9.30am. Of course, the event has to work around the tides, so expect the unexpected!

One of the most well known Australian car events is held in Victoria at Winton Raceway near Benalla. The 41st Historic Winton is held over the weekend of May 27 and 28. For those who like to get the party started a little early, the festivities will kick off on Friday 26th with the Benalla & District Classic Car & Motorbike Tour and show 'n' shine.
The event will feature more than 400 historic racing cars and motorbikes from the 1920s to the 1980s, with racing action, heritage displays of veteran and vintage vehicles and more.

Moving into June and the only place to be is Western Australia for the Albany Classic.
It's on Saturday and Sunday, June 3-4, and is a festival celebrating classic cars and street machines including vintage wire wheels, post-vintage and classics, as well as open-wheel racers and big-cube muscle cars.
Saturday sees competitors square off in the Mt Clarence Hill Climb, and on Sunday the cars will battle it out around the Albany CBD in a race known as 'Around the Houses'. There'll be plenty of family friendly entertainment on offer too with market stalls, competitions and performances.

It may be the start of winter but it won't be cold in the tropics!
The Virgin Australia Supercars Championship continues in the Northern Territory from June 16-18 with the CrownBet Darwin Triple Crown.
The Hidden Valley round of the Supercars Championship is in its 20th year and is very close to halfway through the season, so expect the heat to be turned up.
