2008-10 Skoda, Volkswagen models recalled for ABS fix
Skoda and Volkswagen have issued recalls across several model lines between 2008 and 2010 over concerns the ABS systems could fail.
Among the models affected are the popular Golf, Jetta and Octavia, all of which share the same underpinnings - hence why several model lines are affected.
The companies report the thermal overload within the ABS control unit can interrupt the current flow, which would stop the ABS system from functioning correctly and illuminate the warning light in the driver's cluster.

If the condition occurs, the ABS system could fail, restricting the protection provided by ABS and ESC systems in an emergency braking or swerving maneuver.
The following model lines are affected:
MY08-09 Skoda Octavia
MY09-10 Volkswagen Caddy
MY09-10 Volkswagen Eos
MY09-10 Volkswagen Golf
MY09-10 Volkswagen Jetta
MY09-10 Volkswagen Scirocco

The VIN list for affected Skoda models can be viewed here. Volkswagen, however, has not released a VIN list for affected vehicles.
Owners of the recalled Skoda and Volkswagen models will be contacted via mail and will be instructed to present their vehicle to their local dealer to have the software for the ABS/ESC control unit to be updated.
