2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe pricing and specs

Mid-size coupe on sale in June

Australian pricing and initial specifications for the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe range have been detailed ahead of the new model's on-sale date in June

Three variants will be offered at launch - the E220d, E300 and E400 4Matic - with prices starting at $96,000 before on road costs, around a $3000 hike over the sedan.

Kicking off the range is the entry-level E220d, powered by a 143kW/400Nm 2.0-litre turbo-diesel.

Despite its fairly sedate power figure, the diesel's big torque helps it to claim a 0-100km/h sprint time of 7.4 seconds while consuming just 4.9L/100km on the combined cycle.

Standard equipment on the range-opener is the AMG Line exterior styling package, 19-inch alloy wheels, leather upholstery, driver assistance package, Comand Online infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, Parktronic parking assist, along with keyless entry and start.

Next up is the E300, starting at $110,900 before on-road costs. Under the bonnet is a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, which develops 180kW of power and 370Nm of torque.

On top of the E220d's specification, the E300 comes fitted with 20-inch AMG alloy wheels, a sports exhaust system, air suspension, heated front seats along, with full-LED headlights with 84 individually-controllable LEDs. The E300 also cuts the 0-100km/h sprint time to 6.4 seconds and consumes 6.4L/100km on the combined cycle.

Finally, the E400 4Matic serves as the range-topper, for now at least. Starting at $145,900 before on-roads, the E400 is powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6, producing 245kW and 480Nm. The V6-powered coupe can sprint from 0-100km/h in just 5.3 seconds while using 8.1L/100km combined.

Equipment highlights over the E300 include a 13-speaker 590W Burmester sound system, head-up display, panoramic sunroof, metallic paint and privacy glass.

Buyers of the E300 and E400 4Matic can also add the limited-run Edition 1 package (above and below), which is capped at 555 vehicles globally.

Costing $5900 for E300 models and $2420 on E400 4Matic variants, the Edition 1 package adds luxury features like two-tone nappa leather upholstery, nappa leather and microfibre sports steering wheel, Air Balance interior filtering package, designo cashmere white magno exterior paint, 20-inch bi-colour AMG multi-spoke alloy wheels, black exterior highlights and 'Edition 1' badging.

All models come equipped with a nine-speed automatic transmission, driving the rear wheels in the E220d and E300, while the E400 4Matic spins (you guessed it) all-four wheels.
