Tata Tamo Racemo sports car unveiled

The Tata Tamo Racemo is small two-seat mid-engine sports car, and made its debut at the 2017 Geneva motor show.

Developed by Tata Motors' Tamo division, an "incubating centre of innovation", the Racemo is built upon the new MOFlex Multi-Material Sandwich structure, which Tata says not only enables "greater freedom in surface design" but also has a large degree of "modularity and faster time to market".

The Racemo is powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine with 140kW of power at 6500rpm, and 210Nm of torque at 2500rpm. The mid-mounted motor drives the rear wheels via six-speed automatic transmission.

Tata claims that the Racemo is capable of sprinting from 0-60mph (0-97km/h) in under six seconds.

The Racemo has double wishbone suspension at all four corners. The mid-engine sports car rides on 17-inch wheels up front with 205/50 tyres, and 18-inch wheels at the rear with 235/45 tyres.

Within its stripped back interior, the Racemo has three high-resolution screens directly in front of the driver. The instrumentation, navigation and telemetry systems have a Microsoft-engineered interface and are said to make extensive use of the vehicle's built-in internet connectivity.

Making their debut alongside the Racemo are the Racemo+, a racing version designed to "provide an extreme experience to speed enthusiasts ... via curated track activities", and a digital version of the Racemo+, which can be downloaded and driven within Forza Motorsport 3.
