Subaru Brumby leaving the River Cottage in the name of charity

A special 1993 Subaru Brumby will be auctioned off at the end of February to raise funds for Cystic Fibrosis New South Wales.

The ute, which co-starred on popular TV Series River Cottage Australia, has been used by host Paul West and his family in several seasons of the foodie-themed show as a workhorse on the rural Southern NSW property.

Produced from 1978 through to 1994, the Subaru Brumby - known in other markets as the BRAT, 284, and Shifter - was developed to match the demand for small trucks in the USA, and came standard with all-wheel drive - unlike numerous competitors.

This particular Brumby was built in 1992 as a 1993 model-year vehicle, and includes luxury items of the time including a cassette player and towbar.

It was originally owned by the Murrumbidgee Country Council in Leeton, NSW, and is roadworthy and registered.

Colin Christie, Subaru Australia's managing director, said: " We are pleased to hold an auction that raises funds for an amazing cause which we strongly support".

"Not only that, it will also be gratifying to see our renowned Brumby go into good hands, for some tender loving care."

The River Cottage Brumby will be auctioned online over a two-day period at Manheim Sydney, commencing on Tuesday, March 14, and concluding Thursday, March 16, at 7:00pm.
