2018 Hyundai Sonata facelift leaked

A photo of what appears to be the facelifted Hyundai Sonata sedan has been leaked and published online.

The solitary low-resolution image, above, was originally posted on Hyundai-Blog.com overnight. It's not clear how or where the site sourced the image.

Despite that, the blog has a good recent history with leaks. Earlier this week, it published leaked design sketches of the updated Hyundai Sonata. Not longer later, Hyundai followed up with an official release of those drawings.

This image confirms that the faceflited Sonata will have a bolder, sportier look than the sedan currently in showrooms throughout the world.

The largest changes include new headlights and a completely redesigned bumper with stacked LED fog lights, more prominent air intakes, and a cascading grille, similar to one used on the i30 hatch.

So far, photos of the rear have yet to emerge, but the sketches released earlier this week show a redesigned rump with an all-new boot lid, and aggressive tail-lights visually linked together by large Sonata lettering.

Hyundai has confirmed that the updated Sonata will make its debut early this month prior to going on sale locally in the second quarter of 2017.

The revised Sonata will be available in two basic designs, the standard version pictured at the top, and a even sportier design for the Turbo variant.
