Peugeot SR1 Concept Car

To compliment the new design is a new look corporate Lion. The SR1 is designed around the theme of the 'Grand Touring Car' and has a high-tech interior.

With a large bonnet, flowing wings and a very low centre of gravity the SR1 revisits the tradition of grand touring cars of the past.

The hard top has been manufactured using pre-formed profile technology, which came from the world of sailing. The car's skin is made from carbon fibre which is strong and very light.

Able to accommodate three people with the third seat set in the middle behind the two front seats. The centre console slides forward to allow access to the back seat.

Powering the SR1 will be hybrid4 technology which will be first seen on the Peugeot 3008 in 2011. A 1.6 litre turbo petrol engine with 160 kW is combined with a 70 kW electric motor.

The petrol engine is at the front of the car and drives the front wheels and the electric motor is in the back and drives the rear wheels.

It is possible to drive the car in electric mode only, becoming a zero emission vehicle. The combined cycle fuel consumption is 4.9 litres/100 km with 119 g/km of CO2.

With both power trains operating the SR1 develops 230 kW of power and has the benefits of all wheel drive and also has four wheel steering. This combined technology is proof that driving pleasure and environmental friendliness can work together.

A rigid lightweight structure consisting of a one piece body and tubular chassis improve the vehicle's dynamic efficiency. Suspension consists of double wishbones with drop links at both ends of the vehicle.

The interior is a combination of leather, wood-grain and high tech materials like nickel and satin-finished chrome. The instruments are a combination of analogue and digital readouts with a clear emphasis to every item of information conveyed to the driver.
