2017 Peugeot 2008 pricing and specs

Facelifted baby SUV sees a styling, tech and drivetrain upgrade

The new-look 2017 Peugeot 2008 has arrived in Australia, with the more muscled looking mini SUV axing its diesel engine offering and adding new safety and technology equipment.

The new model range is a petrol only affair, with the brand’s 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo engine and six-speed automatic transmission aimed at appealing squarely at the majority of front-wheel-drive SUV buyers.

The engine replaces the old non-turbo four-cylinder auto model, which was always felt to sell the 2008 short. The new engine may have a smaller capacity and fewer cylinders, and while it has a little less power (81kW compared to 88kW) it has notably more torque (205Nm vs 160Nm), which helps it be 0.6 seconds quicker from 0-100km/h.

The new drivetrain uses a claimed 4.8 litres per 100 kilometres, which is 1.7L/100km better than the existing atmo four-cylinder.

The model range is made up of the base model Active variant, priced from $26,490 plus on-road costs, the mid-range Allure (from $30,990 plus on-road costs) and the flagship GT-Line, whichis listed at $32,990 plus on-road costs. The high-spec diesel Outdoor manual model has been axed.

Peugeot is already offering drive-away deals on the new-look 2008, with the Active base model on sale from $29,990, the mid-range Allure from $35,000, and the top-spec GT-Line from $35,990.

All three models have a 7.0-inch touchscreen media system with Apple CarPlay and Siri voice control. A rear-view camera and rear parking sensors are standard, too, while higher-spec models gain autonomous emergency braking and more. See below for a breakdown of what the differences are spec-by-spec.

Styling wise, the revised 2008 sees the adoption of the brand’s family look, with a more pronounced grille, more angular bumper and revised headlights and tail-lights. The GT-Line model stands out from the other models with extra body cladding, black exterior highlights and more.
