2017 Aston Martin Vantage Redbull Edition revealed

Two brand-new special edition Red Bull Racing models have been revealed ahead of their official unveiling, planned for this year's opening round of the 2017 Formula One season in Melbourne. This time, though, thanks to a new relationship, they're not Renaults but Aston Martins.

Due to make their public debut at the 2017 Australian Grand Prix in March, the Aston Martin V8 and V12 Vantage S Red Bull Racing editions have been put together by 'Q by Aston Martin' – the premium UK brand’s in-house personalisation division – and “created to celebrate Aston Martin and Red Bull Racing’s 'Innovation Partnership’”.

According to Aston Martin, both cars feature Red Bull Racing-inspired ‘liveries’, teaming Mariana Blue exterior paint with red grille and side strake highlights, and yellow brake calipers.

Other options, however, include a gloss Tungsten Silver or satin Mariana Blue exterior finish, and red brake calipers (check out the gallery for these).

Ensuring the racing theme runs deeper than mere paint colours, the two Aston Martin Vantage S Red Bull Racing editions come standard with carbon-fibre grilles, front splitters, side strakes, and rear diffusers.

Inside, more carbon-fibre joins specially-stitched bucket seats with ‘Red Bull Racing’-embroidered headrests, and an Alcantara steering wheel.

Who would say no, but Aston Martin says customers can also opt to have their car’s sill and final inspection plates signed by either of Red Bull Racing’s drivers, Aussie Daniel Ricciardo or Belgian-born Dutchman Max Verstappen.

Although the confirmed Aston Martin AM-RB 001 hybrid hypercar isn’t due until 2019, Aston Martin says Australian buyers will only have to wait until the second quarter of 2017 to get their hands on their Red Bull special edition models, with Australian and New Zealand customers receiving “priority for the first global allocations”.

With Australian prices starting at $259,995 (driveaway) for the V8 and $422,770 (before on-road costs) for the V12, Aston Martin says its first two Red Bull Racing special editions are available for order immediately.

Prices start a touch above the standard $254,200 Aston Martin V8 Vantage S and $360,410 Aston Martin V12 Vantage S, however, power from the two car’s naturally-aspirated 4.7-litre V8 and 5.9-litre V12 will seemingly be unchanged, at 321kW and 421kW, respectively.

Despite final specs not yet being known, by comparison, the 6.5-litre V12-powered hybrid-assisted AM-RB 001 is expected to be a fair whack more expensive and significantly more powerful.

Red Bull Racing fans might remember previous Renault Megane and Clio specials inspired by the French manufacturer’s former F1 partner, including the likes of the 2011 and 2012 F1 World Championship commemorative specials.

Red Bull confirmed its split from Renault and its new partnership with Aston Martin back in early 2016.
