That sucks: Dodge Demon gets massive “Air Grabber” bonnet scoop

The upcoming Dodge Challenger SRT Demon will boast what the car maker has declared the largest functional bonnet scoop ever cut into a production car's engine lid.

To celebrate its enormity, the scoop even gets its own name and badge: Air Grabber. Not since "freezer" has an object's name and function been so perfectly aligned.

Measuring 45 square inches, or 290 square centimetres, or "just bloody big", the Air Grabber will force air through special ducting, matched to a significantly larger airbox than that featured in the once-true-king Hellcat.

But because an opening almost paradoxically as wide as the car itself is somehow still not sufficient, the Demon will also gulp even more air through two Air Catcher headlights - again outdoing the Hellcat, which boasts only one skewered eye.

All this, and Dodge is still yet to reveal how much power the Demon will use to melt the ‘Demon Branded’ 315/40R18 Nitto NT05R rear tyres, although its appearance in April's The Fate of the Furious film likely provides a hint as to when we'll know more.
