2018 Porsche Macan facelift spied

Prototypes of the updated Porsche Macan have spotted undergoing testing in the cold and snow strewn far northern reaches of Europe.

Changes, at least visually, to the Macan will be relatively minor. The development vehicle seen here features lightly revised bumpers with a modified air intake design, repositioned indicators, and a restyled rear diffuser.

There will also be changes to the crossover's headlight and tail-light graphics. False body panels between the two main tail-light housings hint at revisions to the tailgate, including the possibility of full width lights.

It's not known what other changes Porsche has in store for the Macan, but refinements to the interior and drivetrains are likely. Expect Porsche to fit some of its latest safety, driving and infotainment technology into the updated Macan.

Launched globally in 2014 as a small alternative to the Cayenne SUV, the Macan has gone on to become one of Porsche's most popular vehicles.

Last year, Porsche 2172 Macans were sold in Australia, with the crossover accounting for just under 49 per cent of the brand's local volume. The Macan easily outsold the Cayenne (1341), the Boxster and Cayman twins (457), the 911 (422), and Panamera (42).
