2012 Hyundai Velostar spy photos

Hyundai's Velostar appears to be off the manufacturer's GFC induced "stop" list and back on track for production with these grainy images showing the heavily clad car cold weather testing in South Korea recently.

The four-seater hatch, said to be powered either a 1.6-litre turbo or 2.0-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine (of roughly 104kW each), will remain "70 to 80 per cent true to the concept" (pictured below) according to Hyundai America acting CEO, Mr John Krafcik.

Although the car has yet-to-be-named for production purposes, Velostar is earmarked to replace the Tiburon, sitting below the upcoming Genesis model in Hyundai's new performance-orientated line-up.

The Velostar is expected to make an appearance late in 2011 as an MY12 model. Pricing will be announced closer to the launch, though we expect around US$15,000 (AUD$19,250) base price.
