Chrysler to show Fiat 500 EV at Detroit Motor Show

Sources close to Chrysler have confirmed that it plans to show two new vehicles at next month's Detroit Motor Show, both of which will hint at future collaborations with Italian partner Fiat.

Ready to take centre stage at the show will be an electric version of the popular Fiat 500 and a Lancia Delta hatch dressed with a Chrysler grille.

The sources went on to say that although Chrysler has no immediate plans to sell either of the vehicles in North America, CEO Sergio Marchionne has confirmed that he plans to gradually merge the Lancia and Chrysler brands.

A corner of Chrysler's stand will also be dedicated to showing vehicles from Fiat's luxury-sports brands, including Ferrari (with the 458 Italia) and Maserati (with the GranCabrio).

The Detroit Motor Show kicks of on January 11, 2010.
