2017 Jaguar F-Type facelift unveiled with new 400 Sport, R-Dynamic models
The covers were whipped off the Jaguar F-Type facelift on the second press day of the 2017 Detroit motor show.
Jaguar has decided to keep the F-Type's visual revisions to a minimum, with the big changes being new adaptive full-LED headlights, a cleaner look for the tweaked bumpers, and revisions to the tail-light graphics.
On the inside, Jaguar has endowed the F-Type with upgraded fabrics and finishes, and new lightweight seats with a die-cast magnesium alloy frame, more supportive bolsters and more rearward travel.
There's also the company's latest Touch Pro infotainment system with an 8.0-inch capacitive touchscreen, 60GB worth of SSD storage, and 4G internet connectivity. The standard audio setup is a 10-speaker Meridian system, while the upgrade option includes 12 speakers and surround sound.
Jaguar has also developed a ReRun app that can incorporate car vehicle data, including speed, throttle position, gear selection, braking force and g-force, into videos shot with GoPro's range of action cameras.
New models
The company has also added two models to the F-Type lineup: the 400 Sport, and the R-Dynamic.
The 400 Sport will only be available for one model year, and features a retuned version of the company's 3.0-litre supercharged V6. In the 400 Sport, the mill develops 294kW of power or 400PS at 6500rpm, and 460Nm of torque between 3500 and 5500rpm.

In addition to a more powerful engine, the limited edition model also features the Configurable Dynamics system, dark grey 20-inch alloy wheels, Super Performance brakes, plenty of 400 Sport badging both inside and out, and yellow contrast stitching throughout the interior.
The R-Dynamic model is addition to the permanent range, and the trim line can be specified with either the 250kW and 280kW versions of Jaguar's 3.0-litre supercharged V6.
It includes gloss black finishing for the air intakes, front splitter, bonnet vents, rear diffuser, and side sills, and rides on either 19- or 20-inch alloy wheels.

The range
At the lower end of the revised F-Type range are the F-Type and F-Type R-Dynamic coupe and convertible models. Both of these trim levels are available with a 250kW/450Nm 3.0-litre supercharged V6, rear-wheel drive, and either a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic.
Also available on the regular F-Type and the R-Dynamic is the 280kW/460Nm version of the V6. This can be combined with an eight-speed automatic in rear- or all-wheel drive, or a six-speed manual with rear-wheel drive.
Next up is the aforementioned limited edition 400 Sport coupe and convertible, which is paired exclusively to an eight-speed auto, and either rear- or all-wheel drive.
With a 405kW/680Nm 5.0-litre supercharged V8, the F-Type R coupe and convertible is available solely with an eight-speed auto paired with an all-wheel drive system. And a similar situation exists for the range topping 423kW/700Nm V8 SVR coupe and convertible.
Australia
The updated F-Type V6 and V8 range will hit Australia in May, with pricing and details to be confirmed closer to launch.
