Local conversion firm Performax has issued a recall for its 2014 to 2017 model-year Chevrolet Silverado 2500, 3500 and GMC Sierra 2500 trucks over concerns a faulty module may fail to deploy the frontal airbags in a collision.
According to the company, the affected vehicles are fitted with a sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) that may have defective software.
If the condition occurs, this could prevent the deployment of the front airbags and seatbelt pretensioners in an accident.

Performax says the fault poses an increased risk of injury to occupants of the vehicle in the event of a crash.
Owners of the affected models are encouraged to present their vehicle to their local dealer or contact Performax International directly to arrange repairs.

The SDM will be reprogrammed with new software that eliminates the defect, while vehicles with any previous deployment events recorded in the SDM will have the unit replaced entirely.
