Daihatsu to dominate Tokyo Auto Salon with 11 diminutive concepts

For a relatively small car company, Daihatsu is planning to put on a big show at the upcoming Tokyo Auto Salon.

The Toyota-owned small car specialist will showcase 11 custom concepts all based on current production models that have been neatly modified.

The 11 concepts fall under four overarching themes; Grand Custom, Sporza, Beach Cruising or Cross Field.

With the tuner expo just around the corner, the fleet of cars Daihatsu will have on display has landed online.

The Grand Custom look features dark paint colours that offset and highlight the bold blue wheels, chrome trims and bright lighting. The tall-bodied yet still tiny Move is pictured above with the Thor and Tanto mini-wagons also given the Grand Custom treatment.

Sporty looking and finished in red and black with gold wheels, the Sporza line includes the Copen roadster (pictured above), Thor and Move Canbus wagons, as well as the Boon hatchback.

The Canbus pictured above is part of the Beach Cruising line-up that oozes retro cool with baby blue paint, wood trim and vintage-style chrome wheels.

The Cast Activa is a small SUV and along with the Wake, sports the Cross Field customisation. Green paint, orange accents and patterned trims are the signatures of this style.

The Tokyo Auto Salon is on from January 13-15, 2016 - right in the middle of the Detroit motor show which is on from January 8-22.
