2017 Suzuki Swift design and details revealed via leaked Japanese brochure

Details about the next-generation Suzuki Swift have been leaked online thanks to a Japanese brochure that's escaped into the wild.

The brochure you see here was posted by user ganbaremmc on their LiveDoor blog.

Although the resolution and quality of these photos aren't the best, we can make out basic details about the Japanese Swift range.

As for styling, this brochure proves that earlier leaked images were on the money, with the new car mixing design cues from the past two generations with tighter surfacing and inspiration from the Jaguar F-Type.

For the domestic market, the Swift will be available in XG, XL and Hybrid ML grades, as well as a range of sportier models tagged RS, RSt and Hybrid RS. Visually the RS models are identifiable via their body kit, rear fog light, and a red bar that bisects the grille.

At launch there will be three engine choices: a naturally aspirated 1.2-litre, a 1.0-litre turbo, and a 1.2-litre hybrid system.

Although we can't confirm it from the brochure, we believe that the 1.2-litre is a version of the naturally aspirated DualJet motor, which makes 66kW of power and 120Nm of torque, while the 1.0-litre is a three-cylinder BoosterJet engine with around 82kW of power and 160Nm of torque.

Reports from Europe suggest that the next-generation Swift Sport will feature a 103kW/220Nm 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder. This variant is likely to debut either with the European Swift range or further into the car's life cycle, as the brochure doesn't mention either the Sport or the 1.4-litre motor.

In Japan, the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine is available in front-wheel drive with a five-speed manual or CVT (continuously variable transmission), and can also be had in all-wheel drive form, but exclusively paired to a CVT.

Meanwhile the 1.0-litre turbo is available solely in front-wheel drive with a six-speed automatic, and the 1.2-litre hybrid drivetrain comes in either front- or all-wheel drive with a CVT.

The new Swift range, in Japan at least, will be available with the choice of eight exterior colours: red, blue, white, black, silver, purple, gold/champagne, and aqua. Only the first five are available on the sportier RS models.

Australia

Although we've yet to receive official confirmation, expectations are that the new Swift will go on sale in Australia during the second half of 2017.
