CarAdvice News Desk: All wrapped-up for Christmas

Welcome to the CarAdvice.com News Desk, a regular video wrap of the latest happenings in the automotive world and Australia's new-car market.

Keeping you in the loop, Tegan Lawson presents a weekly video from the CarAdvice Garage, with everything you need to know about the week in news and reviews.

Not this time, though. Today she's wrapping up for Christmas with a look at the biggest news stories of the year. Catch our video above, and links to the full stories below.

THESE STORIES CLOCKED UP THE MOST READER VIEWS IN 2016:

Back in July pricing and specifications for the 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan range were confirmed.

A brochure for the facelifted 2016 Mazda 3 was leaked online in July, giving us a sneak peek at the changes ahead of the car's official unveiling not long after.

Details of the 2017 Toyota LandCruiser 70 Series upgrade were revealed in June, ahead of production starting in August.

In February the limited-edition 2016 Ford Falcon XR6 Turbo Sprint and XR8 Turbo Sprint sedans were revealed.

The fifth most popular story this year also came from Ford, with the anticipated return of the Ford Bronco piquing plenty of interest. (Above is a speculative rendering, but we hope it looks a bit like that!)

This was big news back in February, but there hasn’t been much in the time since. At that time, the government was planning to allow parallel or grey import vehicles into Australia from 2018.

The unveiling of the 2017 Volkswagen Amarok in May was big news. It’s the only ute in the segment with a turbo-diesel V6 engine.

The Toyota HiLux was back in the spotlight in October. Australia’s top-selling light commercial vehicle was put through a European extreme handling evaluation called the Moose Test.

Plenty of excitement too when Subaru revealed the 2016 Levorg would be offered with the same powertrain as the Subaru WRX.

A list of top Australian car news stories wouldn’t be complete without Holden. Earlier this month the covers came off the model that will replace the formerly Aussie-built icon. Holden also says the new generation will be ready for action as a general duties and highway patrol vehicle when it arrives in February 2018.
