Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace seven-seater teased ahead of Detroit debut

There'll be a new, larger version of the Volkswagen Tiguan shown off at the 2017 Detroit motor show - and it'll be called the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace.

The longer Allspace version of the Volkswagen Tiguan will see the mid-sized SUV offered with up to seven seats, with a release from Volkswagen stating that the new model will be known as Allspace in Europe, but simply as Tiguan in China and America.

There's no mention of Australia in the initial release accompanying these sketches, but we've reported previously that the new model will be sold here - and VW Australia has reconfirmed it will arrive locally in 2018, not long after the Skoda Kodiaq.

The longer model is designed to offer more room inside, and it has an extended wheelbase, lengthened by 11 centimetres. The company says this ensures "greater flexibility in the interior", though we've already rated the flexibility of the standard Tiguan pretty highly. Read our reviews of it here.

It is expected that the new seven-seat version of the Tiguan will be offered with a selection of petrol and diesel engines, likely with front- and all-wheel-drive configurations.

Stay tuned for more images and details in the new year when the wraps are taken off the all-new Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace.
